Roots of Woodcraft Adventures

My work sits at the intersection of craft, disability empowerment, mental health, and social innovation — and everything I do is driven by a belief that everyone has a creative spark worth bringing to life.

My journey began in the Tasmanian bush with Rustix, where I lived on a mountain designing rustic timber pieces influenced by the raw energy of nature. From local markets to national and international customers, I built a craft identity shaped by simplicity, texture, and story.

Later, I founded The Cognitive Factory, a breakthrough system enabling people with brain injuries to build woodcraft products using only one arm, one movement, or one simple action. What surfaced was extraordinary: their eye-to-hand accuracy was perfect, their independence was real, and their confidence soared. We built boxes, created original designs, and proved that meaningful work can be accessible to everyone.

From there grew Woodcraft Warriors, a woodwork hub inside a psychosocial centre, where creativity, motivation, and mental health intertwined. Some participants built; others watched; all were inspired. The energy in that room sparked new programs — including a mental health rock band — and transformed the culture of the centre. Creativity became connection.

Today, I lead Woodcraft Adventures — a microenterprise-building project helping people with disabilities turn their craft into self-employment, pride, and community belonging. My role is part mentor, part designer, part craftsman, and part storyteller. I work alongside people as they discover their talent, shape their products, and learn to stand tall in their own creative identity.

Whether it’s woodcraft, social enterprise, mental health engagement, or community arts, my passion is simple:
